Burnout - why pushing through is no longer the answer
Burnout doesn't happen overnight. It builds slowly, quietly, while you were busy showing up for everyone and everything, often long before you even noticed the signs.
It usually begins with stress, which in itself is not a bad thing. In short bursts it is a completely normal and necessary physiological response, it sharpens focus, mobilises energy and helps us rise to meet a challenge.
When stress becomes relentless, or when we have been carrying the weight of past experiences, the body eventually reaches its limit. Rather than bouncing back, it becomes locked in a state of permanent exhaustion and high alert all at once. Your nervous system, once braced for action, now barely has the resources to cope. Digestion suffers, essential nutrients become depleted, sleep stops being restorative and your breath becomes shallow and tight, quietly keeping your body stuck in survival mode.
This is burnout. Not laziness. Not weakness. Not something you can simply push through or sleep off.
It is your body's way of telling you that something fundamental needs to change.
The good news is that recovery is absolutely possible but it requires a different approach. Not more effort, but patience. Not pushing harder, but learning to work gently with your body rather than against it. Piecing together the bits of the puzzle to understand how you got to where you are and then gradually rebuilding.
Working with me, we take that journey together through three fundamental stages. Gradually, safely and at a pace that feels right for you, addressing burnout at every level, so that you can find your way back to feeling happy, healthy, calm and in control.
